How Do You Spell MEOW?

Oh my goodness. DH and I were just watching the preview show to the Miss America Pageant. Now, we haven't watched this event in years and years. We were shocked at some of the cattiness displayed by the contestants! It was interesting to just watch the interactions, the way the camera played to the same women, the way that some of these gals didn't know the words to our National Anthem! Many didn't know "God Bless America," but that isn't our national anthem so they, in my humble opinion, are forgiven. Yikes! I'm glad I had a son, LOL! I hope the final pageant event is more...authentic?

I did a LO the other day and used part of a laser cut sheet of numerals. Well, when DH saw the remaining portion, he said, "You should make a layout with that and call it 1, 2, 3, 4 like the MAC commercial (sung by Feist)." So I did! However, I did it with a twist. This is your technique lesson for today. Who needs a HS Mask? LOL Here it is:

Using a Laser Cut as a Mask

Materials Needed::

Glimmer Mist in at least two colors. I used gold and a deep red
tape or other adhesive
cardstock
laser cut segment (mine was left over from another LO)

Procedure:

1 Using your piece of laser cut, secure it to your background CS so that it is flat.
2. Spray the lighter color of Glimmer Mist over the mask and cardstock.

3. Spray your contrasting color of Glimmer Mist in the areas of your preference.

4. Allow to dry. I used my heat embossing tool to expedite the process.
5. Trim down to fit your desired size.

6. Glue to your cardstock.

7. Finish your layout. That's it!

Here is the final layout:

I really like the end result. It was a great use of the left over laser cut. It was so little effort as well!

Thank you for stopping by! I've missed not blogging!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!

It is very cold outside! Usually, southern Utah doesn't get as chilly as it is. We went down to 20° last night. At least today it will warm up to 40°. I've got a fire in the fireplace and a mug of hot chocolate. Since it's sooooo chilly, I decided to do a LO that will go into my album which describes my favorite winter items. Here it is:

A Cute Mini Album Idea

You know how you walk through stores and think, "How can I use this in scrapping?" Well, Staples was my new best friend!

I saw the badge holders and thought, "Aha, this would work." I bought a package of 10 for just under $6.00. I chose the horizontal ones rather than the vertical ones.

The next thing was to use scrap paper from my scrap box. I went through my old stickers and pulled anything that might be useful. Lastly, I used fibers to dress it up. I know, I know - fibers? Why not ribbon? Well, I just like the festive look of the fibers.

Think of the possibilities for this. You could decorate it and slip a gift card or two inside to give as a gift. It would have made a great stocking stuffer for Christmas, too (thanks, Morgan). It would also make a great brag book for Grandma. It's just small enough to be perfect for those school photos that come in the smaller sizes.

A Wonderful Surprise!

I stated in the previous post that I was participating in a cybercrop at Scrap Lovers. It was so nice because it was about two weeks in length and points were not given for the layouts completed! I hate points! I am such a slow scrapper that points make me an automatic loser! I do one LO and someone else does 12 to my one!!! You know what I mean. The points do not make for a fair playing field, in my opinion. It's my opinion that if you participate once or ten times in one challenge, your name goes in once. Then, it's fair (that coming from the point of view of someone who would only have their name in the hat once, LOL) Thank you Scrap Lovers for NOT counting points!!!

I went to the Scrap Lovers site a few minutes ago to check the winners' thread, never thinking I had won anything. Imagine my surprise when I learned that I was one of the two Grand Prize winners!!! One winner was for a paper LO while the other was for a digi layout! My jaw fell. I was shocked! It actually took me a bit to recover from the shock!!! My LO entitled, "A Little Birdie Told Santa" was the winning paper LO. It is posted below. I was and am shocked. Here it is again:

I'm off to my scraproom now. I have a technique to present this week and I better get busy!

Have a good one!

Let's Get Scrappy

Wouldn't that be a cute title for a site or a blog? LOL Sometimes, I surprise myself with the things I think of.

It's been cool, cloudy, and rainy the past couple of days. LOVE IT! I decided it was time for wintery soup. Afterall, it is National Soup Month! Friday night, I made Manhattan Clam Chowder that DH REALLY loved. It was very, very good. Then, I made turkey and wild rice soup. It was good, but on the heels of the chowder, came in third (which is hard considering there was no second place).

Today, I'm scrapping. I'm going to play with my Glimmer Mists. Don't know where I'm heading with it, but it's on today's menu!

There is a cybercrop at a website, Scraplovers.com, and I've been doing a few of their challenges. There is a challenge to post our top 10 scrap projects of 2007. At first, I thought about just listing them, LOL. That would be less time consuming. Then, I figured I should, at least, post the LOs that had wonderful results. Here they are:

Happy New Year!

2008 is here. What will it bring to each of us? What will each of us make of it. Did you set any resolutions? I never do. Making them sets me up for failure because I never keep them!

We had a quiet New Year's Eve. We watched the fireworks display our city had right from the comfort of our family room window. It was so much nicer than being out in the cold. We also watched the movie Dream Girls. That was an excellent movie!

For some reason, my blog page isn't loading for me. The text is there, but the photos aren't coming up. I think I may have too many photos on the page. Is that possible? I apologize. I don't know what to do.

I see that it says "Older Posts" at the bottom, but I don't know how to do it by months so that I could remove the December posts to archive and then only have what shows up starting today.

Have a wonderful New Year, everyone. May you be blessed with happiness and health. With those two, he rest is easy!
