Magnolia Edwin Sings a Beatles' Song

Hello Dearest Readers,

Hello from a beautifully sunny day in the desert. Last week, we had days of clouds, rain, and snowflakes! I loved it! It's so nice to have rain. After a while, those gorgeous sunny skies get old! It seems if we have snow, we want warmth and sun. When we have the Summer's heat, we long for Winter's breath of cold air! So, today, I'm savoring the blue sky and chilly temps while wishing for more clouds and rain.

Before I share my card with you, I want you to know that I think this is the worst card I have ever made! I love the front. I HATE the interior. I ripped it apart no less than five times! It just gave me fits from the start. The inverted corners were impossible to get evenly cut so that all would be equidistant from the curve. Some managed to be closer while others were much farther apart. It was maddening! The pop up section wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. You are looking at version number four! I have never been so frustrated by a stupid card in my life! So, please be gentle! LOL

I made this card for my husband's birthday. He turned 64. I chose to do a take on the song by the Beatles, "When I'm 64." I had to modify the lyrics by one word here and there so that it would fit our situation. So, no, I didn't get the words wrong. I wanted it to read just as the situation was - from me to him. Magnolia-licious is the place to get most of the Magnolia items I've used. The older ones might be specially ordered if you check with Diana, and see if she can get them for you. I know she will certainly try her best! She's wonderful! There is a list of Magnolia products following my photos.

I used an older Edwin. You can tell because he's less pudgy now! I glittered the little stars in gold and silver. The champagne flukes were colored with my Spica pens. I also colored the wrapper and label of the champagne bottle with my gold Spica pen. Edwin is standing on crystal glitter. The paper is sparkly. I saw that the pattern on the paper seemed to match the lines on the music measure as did the dots on the paper match the notes. The photo below is an attempt to capture the sparkle.

Here is the inside left.

Here, I have Tilda on a spring so that she moves from side to side as if she is dancing. I took the airborne champagne bubbles and stamped them on acetate. Then, I colored them with Copics, trimmed, and adhered to the back of the champagne glass. One of my favorite colors is red, so I dressed Tilda with Love Potion in red! Of course, I had to add my newest addition - eyelashes to Tilda! I think I'm the first to do that! Woo Hoo!

Here is the opposite side:

On this side, you can really see all the sparkle to make the card festive. I used an older Doo-hickey die for the sparkly part. I apologize as I don't have a name for it. I paired it with other older Doo-hickey dies.

Lastly, this is the interior together:

These are the Magnolia products, with links to Magnolia-licious:

Memory Box Virtuoso Music Die

Magnolia Doo-hickey Tea Label Tags Die Set

Tilda with Love Potion Stamp

Magnolia Doo-hickey Heart Swirl Die

Magnolia Doo-hickey Dream Tag Die

Magnolia Doo-hickey Romantic Tag Die

Party Edwin Stamp - a very old stamp

Needless to say, my husband loved the card. He knew how long it took me to put it together until I felt it was the best it could be.

Thank you so much for visiting. I'd love a comment if you wish to leave one.

Hi Dearest Readers,

Isn't that a gorgeous photo? Feel free to go with the flow! Use the colors, wintery theme (which is what I did), image reflection (which is what our amazing Jane did) - whatever moves you! As always, there is one lucky gal who will win this -

Here is my card. Oh, guess what I did? I added eyelashes to Tilda! *giggle* I've not seen anyone do that before, so maybe I'll start a trend! LOL, LOL, LOL!

Here, I tried to capture some of the sparkle that just makes the front extra special.I also used silver metallic thread for the stitching. That added such a subtle sparkly look!

These are the inside images:

Magnolia-licious Challenge with Tilda on the Roof

Hello sweet readers,

Have you been bitten by the flu bug yet? I hope not! It seems that it is really spreading, so make sure you wash your hands constantly! I got my shot, how about you? So many readers are not feeling well. Take care!

I am so glad that you took the time to stop by today. It is time for our first Magnolia-licious Challenge of 2013! Here are the details:

The challenge runs from Tuesday, January 8 to Monday, January 21, 2013. Your image MUSTuse at least ONE Magnolia image. You entry MUSTalso be done predominantly in the colors required. If you have a question, just ask any member of the Design Team. Any of us will be delighted to help you before you create something that wouldn't qualify. The prize is something wonderful from Diana. She is most generous, so you will not be disappointed!

It was my turn to pick the colors. I chose the stark tones palette. Here is a photo showing the colors you are to use as well as a photo that helps set the stage. The colors to use are off white, grey, dark brown, tan, and taupe.

Isn't that an amazing photo? I thought it was so beautiful - stark yet serene. The colors are so flat that they look gorgeous in that photo. No, my card isn't as gorgeous, LOL! Definitely not so quietly peaceful! LOL. Here are the photos. I have to tell you that I forgot to take a shot of the interior panels together. DUH! I did manage to take a photo of the top and of the bottom. I'm too tired to try to "stitch" the two photos together. LOL My eyes are gone.

Here is the front:

The front uses the following products available at Diana's MAGNOLIA-LICIOUS store:

Tilda on the Roof

Triple Tag Doo-hickey Die

Leaf and Swirl Die

Here is a photo of the tag unfolded. I used Doodlebug rub ons for the sentiment.

Also used on the front panel is a very pretty grey vellum that has snowflakes printed on it. You can't see it well as I managed to cover it up! Sheesh! I used snowflakes from my stash. One is wood veneer while the other three are crystalline and white. Tilda is sitting on a layer of snow created by using Kindyglitz. Tilda was colored with Distress Inks. The flower is grey felt. I added a brown photo turn to hold the tag in place. The tag has also been outlined in Kindyglitz.

Here are the inside photos:

The following products are available at Diana's MAGNOLIA-LICIOUS store. Just click the link.

So Wrapped Lovely Heart Folded Tag Doo-hickey die

Magnolia Old Swedish Lace Doohickey Die (this is currently out of stock, but if interested, just ask Diana if she is able to order it for you.

Other items on the upper panel include grey loopy ribbon, another wood veneer showflake, and brown/cream alpha stickers. There are also silver snowflakes cut from silver ribbon.

Here is the bottom panel:

For the bottom, I left a sentiment space. The edges have been stamped with Magnolia snowflake stamps. I added grey ribbon, Kindyglitz, silver ribbon snowflakes, and a gorgeous Magnolia Snowflake die which I covered in Kindyglitz to make it sparkle, too!

The following items are available at Diana's MAGNOLIA-LICIOUS store:

Cozy Big Snowflake Doo-hickey Die

Jingle Jangle Snowflakes Stamp

Sparkling Snowflakes Stamps - This is also currently out of stock. Check with Diana to see when it may be restocked. It's from the 2010 Merry Little Christmas Collection.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Remember, if you have any Magnolia needs or wants, see Diana! You can't beat her prices or customer service. Not only that, there is always the Magnolia-licious store rewards! You won't be disappointed - EVER!

I hope you liked my card. Feel free to leave a little love. I treasure each comment. Have a wonderful week!

Chris
