Hello Dearest Readers,
Hello from a beautifully sunny day in the desert. Last week, we had days of clouds, rain, and snowflakes! I loved it! It's so nice to have rain. After a while, those gorgeous sunny skies get old! It seems if we have snow, we want warmth and sun. When we have the Summer's heat, we long for Winter's breath of cold air! So, today, I'm savoring the blue sky and chilly temps while wishing for more clouds and rain.
Before I share my card with you, I want you to know that I think this is the worst card I have ever made! I love the front. I HATE the interior. I ripped it apart no less than five times! It just gave me fits from the start. The inverted corners were impossible to get evenly cut so that all would be equidistant from the curve. Some managed to be closer while others were much farther apart. It was maddening! The pop up section wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. You are looking at version number four! I have never been so frustrated by a stupid card in my life! So, please be gentle! LOL
I made this card for my husband's birthday. He turned 64. I chose to do a take on the song by the Beatles, "When I'm 64." I had to modify the lyrics by one word here and there so that it would fit our situation. So, no, I didn't get the words wrong. I wanted it to read just as the situation was - from me to him. Magnolia-licious is the place to get most of the Magnolia items I've used. The older ones might be specially ordered if you check with Diana, and see if she can get them for you. I know she will certainly try her best! She's wonderful! There is a list of Magnolia products following my photos.
I used an older Edwin. You can tell because he's less pudgy now! I glittered the little stars in gold and silver. The champagne flukes were colored with my Spica pens. I also colored the wrapper and label of the champagne bottle with my gold Spica pen. Edwin is standing on crystal glitter. The paper is sparkly. I saw that the pattern on the paper seemed to match the lines on the music measure as did the dots on the paper match the notes. The photo below is an attempt to capture the sparkle.
Here is the inside left.
Here, I have Tilda on a spring so that she moves from side to side as if she is dancing. I took the airborne champagne bubbles and stamped them on acetate. Then, I colored them with Copics, trimmed, and adhered to the back of the champagne glass. One of my favorite colors is red, so I dressed Tilda with Love Potion in red! Of course, I had to add my newest addition - eyelashes to Tilda! I think I'm the first to do that! Woo Hoo!
Here is the opposite side:
On this side, you can really see all the sparkle to make the card festive. I used an older Doo-hickey die for the sparkly part. I apologize as I don't have a name for it. I paired it with other older Doo-hickey dies.
Lastly, this is the interior together:

Thank you so much for visiting. I'd love a comment if you wish to leave one.
