A Hawk has Brunch in Our Backyard!

Good morning, dearest readers,

I have a quick note to share. The other day, I was in my craft room when I looked out the window and saw a very large bird feeding on something in our back yard. As I was watching, the bird flew away and a MUCH LARGER version of the same species swooped in and landed where bird #1 had been feeding. It was so fast that it if I had blinked, I would have missed the changing of the birds! This took place about 20 feet from my window. I continued to watch what was going on as it was so interesting. I had a hard time discerning what type of bird it was because with my old, tired eyes, I didn't have clarity due to the distance, the window, and the window screen which blurred my vision.

I was determined to know what type of bird I was watching. I got out my telephoto lens and attached it to my camera. Then I saw what it was - a HAWK! Hawks normally do not land so close to homes. Both the smaller one and the huge one must have felt that our yard was a safe zone to feed in peace. The large hawk fed for at least 30 minutes as my husband and I watched from my craft room window. Meet Mr. Hawk:

When this behemoth flew in, the smaller hawk said, "Have at it, Mr. Hawk! I'm outta here!" LOL After the large hawk was done, and flew away, my husband went out to see what they were feeding on. It was a dove. :o( My husband cleaned up the feathers and remnants. About an hour after my husband cleaned it up, the smaller hawk returned and landed in the same spot it had previously been. It hopped all around for food leftovers. There weren't any, so it left.

This was one of those "Nature's Miracles" that happen only in a great once in a while! We were so fortunate to see this process.

Have a good one,

Chris

Magnolia Tilda "Lucky Me" Hand Made Card

Happy St. Patrick's Day Sweet Readers,

Are you wearing your green today? I love St. Patrick's Day! It is such a happy holiday! I'm getting ready to get my corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, and carrots all ready for cooking! LOL The best part of the meal is having the left over corned beef for yummy reuben sandwiches, LOL.

Today, I'm showcasing a card that isn't necessarily a St. Patrick's Day card. In my mind, it's an "I Love You" card. The colors didn't show well in the photo. I so need a new camera and have no clue what to get. My old camera is a Canon EOS Rebel. It stopped transferring the photos to my computer. It still takes photos, though. Anyway, I looked at Canon cameras, and there are so many that I didn't know what would be close to what I had. I live in a small city that has no camera shop, so I'm dead in the water at this point.

OK, back to the photo, LOL. My colors are a soft pink and green with brown accents. Here it is:

I tried to give my little Tilda reddish hair - I sort of did, LOL! The inside if finished on both sides with additional flowers, tags, ribbon, and die cuts.

Magnolia Lovely Rose Tilda Sending Hugs Card

Hello Sweet Readers,

Thank you so much for stopping by! Your visit means a lot! Thank you! I'm feeling very tender today. I'm always on the verge of tears. I think I'm just stressed over a lot of different things - family, government, responsibilities, life in general. Please send good thoughts my way!

I have a delightful card to share with you today. I hope you like it. I wanted something that was sort of vintage, but not quite. I think I got to that point, LOL. Here it is:

The card colors are cream and red with touches of green. I had the beautiful embossed background paper in my scrapbooking papers. It is so pretty. I finally got the rose colored nicely, LOL! My roses needed work - always!

There are two delightful elements - one solid and one that has the middles cut out. I thought they would look great as decorative stems. I got them from

Swedish House Crafts

They are Gummiapan Dies. Here are the names and links: Flower Allium (cut out centers) and Crassula (the one with the solid leaves). They just add dimension and extension that is so nice. Both dies come with a leaf die as well. I did use one leaf in the upper left corner of my card. The prices are sooooooo reasonable, too! Check them out!

Here is a shot of the interior panels:

You can see that I added the Gummiapan dies once again. Can you see the texture on the background paper? You likey?
