Magnolia Big Daisy Card

Hello Dearest Readers,

I hope this post finds each of you having a wonderful weekend. It's a beautiful day today. The sky is a gorgeous azure blue. That's one of the pluses living in the desert.

Our son and daughter-in-law are traveling in Europe. Does a mother ever NOT worry? Anyway, they will be leaving Barcelona and heading into the Basque region. Nevada, where we used to live, has a wonderful Basque population in the northern region of the state. We loved eating at the Basque restaurants when we would travel through northern Nevada. Here is a photo of our darling children:

Isn't that a sweet photo? I hatched the one with the hat! LOL The photo was taken in Barcelona at Paseo Maritimo. Emily, the daughter I never had, is such a wonderful addition to our family. I told her she is the heart of our family. She is amazing. Eventually, they will make their way to Belgium via France. If anyone knows of a good beer tour in Brussels, please let me know! LOL

I have a card to share with you today. I used an older stamp from the 2008 Jingle Jangle Collection. It is called "Big Daisy" and is really a striking stamp. I love the visuals you can get with multiple images. Here it is:

You likey? Me likey, LOL! I did some masking to get the multiple images. I didn't want to clutter the front of the card so that the focal point remained those gorgeous daisies. I made this card with an adult in mind, so I wanted to keep it simple. I simply fell in love with the floral paper! That was the inspiration for this particular card - the paper! LOL It is Echo Park - For the Record. I just love the greens, blues, and yellows found in the flowers. I had some Making Memories yellow that was a perfect match. The butterfly is a Cheery Lynn die. I painted over it using Glamor Dust so that it would sparkle. The card shape was created using Nestibilities Grand Die Set. I inked the edges is Dark Moss. The mulberry daisies are from Prima. The sentiment was a gift from my sweet friend, Rosie **mmmwwaahhh**

I hope you got a little inspiration from my card. I'm not a big easel card fan, but I enjoyed this one. I think it was because I really loved the colors! I love bright and cheery!

Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you will come back again very soon.

XO,

Chris

Tilda in the Forest Wishes You a Merry Christmas!

Hello Dearest Readers,

I hope this blog post finds you well this bright, sunny Tuesday! It's been very humid here in the desert southwest. We've had a lot of thunder and lightning, but, at our home, just a spit of rain. It's supposed to be this way all week long, so, hopefully, we'll get some much needed rain.

My sweet husband brought home five bags of DELICIOUS Rainier Cherries. Oh, they are so pretty. Here is what they look like:

Aren't they gorgeous? They are fat, sweet, and such a treat! Their "season" is very short, so finding them in the store is always fun! I sat and pitted three bags yesterday. I don't know what I'm going to bake with them yet. I know that whatever I decide, it'll taste great! I wish I had room in my freezer. I'd freeze some to enjoy during the winter.

Today begins a new challenge at the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog! The new challenge is…

Christmas in July!

I really had a hard time with this card! I just couldn't get into the Christmas mindset because it was just too hot outside! I did manage though. Here is what I came up with.

If anything, just looking at the card makes me feel cooler! LOL My Tilda is Tilda in the Forest from the 2012 Christmas Story Collection. You can find her HERE

I also used some dies to create the forest. The large frame is a Memory Box Spring frame die. I did some trimming so it didn't look like Spring (or should I say branch pruning, LOL). I, then, backed it with some soft snowflake paper on which I built my forest and snow bank. You cannot see in the photo, but I've added Crystal Stickles to the trees, bushes, and snow. The birds are also a Memory Box die set. The green bushes are created using a branch punch. The silver foil sentiment is a peel off sticker. The small pine trees are from a Memory Box die as well. The snowflake dies are, I think, Cheery Lynn. I used a Fiskars crimper to make the textured snow.

That's pretty much the whole nine yards! I hope you like my creation and found just a little inspiration for you to join the challenge at Magnolia-licious! I hope you will leave a comment for me. I so treasure them and read each and every one! Thank you so much for leaving some love for me! Diana has a prize for one lucky gal who leaves a comment on the DT blogs. It could be you!

Have a wonderful week and thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you will come back again very soon.

XO,

Chris

Bikini Tilda Sends You Sunshine!

Hello Dearest Readers,

Hello from the HOT, hot, hot desert! It's been a "hundred and stupid" all week long! For those of you who are new to my blog, things happen when the temps exceed 105° F. (45° C.). People stop thinking, LOL. It's just too hot to think, LOL! So, the term "a hundred and stupid" is often used. There is a plus, though. Crime goes down! Even the bad guys don't want to venture out because it is too hot! LOL

I have a fun card to share today. I decided to ink up Bikini Tilda and pair her with some bright, tropical paper. I love using black around bright cheery papers. It just accentuates the gorgeous colors! Want to see my creation? Well, here it is:

Here is another angle:

It was just a quick, fun card! I hope you like it.

Thank you for stopping by! Come back soon!

XO,

Chris

Explore Tilda Gone Buggy Challenge!

Hello Dearest Readers,

Happy Tuesday to each of you! It's been so quiet here over the past week with my sweet husband gone. He'll be home in a couple of days. The two felines must miss him because I wake up with one between my legs and the other up against my back, LOL. They must think I need to snuggle, LOL. Both of these girls will be happy when my hubby gets home. Of course, they will ignore him for a couple of days - just to let him know how miffed they are that he left! LOL I'll be the one who is the happiest to have him home! LOL

Today begins a new challenge at the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog! The theme for this new challenge is

Super Buggy Fun!

For this challenge, we would like you to include bugs on your card. It could be in the image, the papers, the embellishments. Just make sure that the bugs are obviously there! You will have two weeks to complete this challenge.

Here is my inspiration card:

I had never used this stamp before! She scared me! LOL I decided to put on my "Big Girl Heels" and just DO IT! It turned out better than I had planned! I love when I surprise myself! Here are some specifics about my card. It is finished inside and out. I've used fun papers from Prima. I'm not sure of the name, but the top says "Yuki for Ruby Violet." I used a Martha Stewart Border Punch, Flowers from my flower bucket. I used the Magnolia Butterfly Die along with some Frantage, a Tim Holtz pen nib, and a tiny Prima Flower. The pearls are from Recollections. The ladybug stamp is a Magnolia Stamp. I have elevated it, along with the butterfly on pop dots. To the stamped image, I added some adorable little ants that are also from two Magnolia stamps. The Tilda image is called Explore Tilda. On her magnifying lens, I added a clear acrylic dome which I think is from Making Memories. I've had them for years, though. I used machine stitching and inking to add some depth and additional texture. Of course, the cardstock is Bazzill.

These are two detailed images.

Here are shots of the interiors:

I may add some additional elements to the interior panels. I'm just not sure right now. I sort of like the clean look it has. Corners maybe? A flower here and there? Time will tell!

Thank you so very much for stopping by! I love that you have come to visit. I hope you like my creation.

Have a wonderful week!

XO,

Chris

Addicted to Stamps Polka Dot Challenge

Happy Sunday, Dearest Readers,

It's that time again! Time for a new challenge at theAddicted to Stamps Challenge Blog! I cannot believe how quickly time is flying by!

This time, your challenge is to create a card that has…

Polka Dots!

When I was teaching, I seemed to very often buy dresses/outfits that had polka dots! Next to Sailor themed clothes, the polka dots were a close second! LOL

Now, back to the challenge! LOL We would love for you to create a card that features polka dots in some way. I'm having some vision issues, so my card does not have a colored and stamped image as usual. However, I DID stamp each of the dots on the top! I had a texture stamp that I used for the pattern. Then, I used a Nestie die to cut each circle out. Lastly, I inked the edges for depth. Would you like to see my creation? Well, here it is:

For my card, I used my Nestie Grande circle and scalloped circle die sets. For the bottom half, done in the greenish yellow, I used a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder which I think is called, "Dots." I added some matching buttons. The round ones are Basic Grey and the shaped ones are from my stash. I also used Bazzil card stock in a Teal color. There is a teal ribbon band as well as a pretty teal and green bow. For some reason, the bow is lighter in the photo than it is in real life. Go figure.

Here is a shot from the side.

I hope you will leave a comment for me so I know what you think. Also, I hope you will join the Polka Dot Challenge! It should be fun. I love polka dots! They just seem so cheery!

Thank you for visiting! I so love that you've taken time out of your busy life to stop by!

XO,

Chris

It's Time for the Magnolia-licious 2014 Summertime Blog Hop!

Happy Blog Hop Day, Dearest Readers,

Well, the heat is on here in the desert! Ugh! We're been teasing 100° (37° C.) for days. It is too early for such heat! Add to that, we have wind each and every day! It's like a blow dryer outside! I dread going anywhere outside even though our cars are air conditioned. I really dislike this time of the year! I'll whine for the next three months, so please forgive me now! LOL

Today, the Magnolia-licious Design Team is having a Summertime Blog Hop! I must warn you. I have a TON of photos below! I wanted to show you every aspect of my project. I hope you don't mind!

You should have reached my site through Norma's Blog. At the end of my post, I will tell you where the next stop is. OK? If you have strayed along the way, here is your starting point:

Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog

You want to go to this page to find all the details and where to start. Diana is offering a prize of a wonderful surprise package to a lucky gal! To be eligible, you need to create a project and post it on the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog. You will have TWO WEEKS to enter your Summertime Project.

For my project, I decided to make a Summertime Fun Bucket! It's a modification of a Bucket List, but since these aren't things we wanted to do before we die, my husband and I chose to make it a "Bucket of Fun," so-to-speak, with things to do this summer!

As we complete each activity, we'll just put the clothes pin into the bucket. See photo below. Here is my **ahem** gallery of photos! I hope I don't lose you along the way, LOL!

I wanted the bucket to be bright and cheery. My DH painted the bucket for me. Then, I went to town with the goodies!

Of course, I wanted to have a journal for the activities we've planned. It'll be fun to look back on in a few years when we can't remember anything anymore! LOL

I chose images from my Magnolia Collection that matched some of the activities on the clothes pins. In this case, it is take a walk in the rain (it will sometime this summer, LOL, I hope!) and fly a kite.

The little characters just make the bucket look so festive and cheery! I wanted to make sure Edwin wasn't left out! LOL

This is the interior of the bucket showing what to do with the pins.

Because I wanted to make my clothes pins look more polished, I chose to decorate the backs as well. I think it just looks nicer.

Here are details of the clothes pin activities we have planned:

I hope I got all the photos included! My folder for this project is filled with so many images! LOL I thought you might want to read what we have planned. Not everything requires going somewhere. I liked including things that would be fun for us to do together.

Well, if you are still with me, it's time for you to visit the next blog! You are now going to visit

Patti Jo's Blog!

I hope you have liked the projects that my sweet Teamies have created to give you some inspiration! This is such a creative DT filled with such talented gals! I am always in awe!

Please stop by Magnolia-licious and see what wonderful goodies Diana has in stock! Diana always has such wonderful bargains, too!

Well, thank you for hopping by! I would so love a comment if you have the time. Have fun visitng the blogs!

XO,

Chris
